Unable to add any tracks to Cubase 4

Hi there,

I am a novice and running Cubase 4. I am trying to add tracks by right clicking in teh correct area and selecting either add Instrument track, add Midi track, add audio track.

I have also tried form the browser i.e projects add tracks.

No tracks are being inserted.If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate hearing from you
