Hi All. I recently purchased Cubase 14 Pro however, the MediaBay does not show any VSTs other than those stored in the C drive (even after re-scanning). I have downloaded all the files associated with my purchase in D drive (including the application) due to lack of space in C drive.
I really want to add VST3 files from my D drive. How can i add the path for the same in Plug-In Manager? Any help will be really appreciated.
P.S. : The “Cog-Wheel” icon only displays after enabling VST2 files, which is not what i want.
VST3 plugins only use the pre-defined path C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, it is not possible to add another one. This is by design.
You could probably use Windows symlinks to link those directories on D intop the VST3 folder (https://www.howtogeek.com/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/).
If you have plugins that use a lot of samples, most of them offer to have the samples in a separate folder, so maybe you could move the sample data to D: and get some space back on C. For Steinberg content you can do that with the Steinberg Library manager e.g.
Why do you want to have VST3 files on the D drive? If you want to save some space, the libraries are the largest of the plug-ins. Most of the vendors allow you to put the library on another drive.
The answers here a bullshit. in all other versions of Cubase pro you could add a custom directory to the VST 3 plugins by clicking the gear Icon. Now it has gone. WTF. You other people answering the guys question have no idea. Whay did they remove the ability to set a VST directory path? I have exactly the same problem. I am sick of young stupid programmers changing things for the sake of change (To make tyheir pathetioc mark so to speak. Menu items should never be changed for the same functions as previous item. So How do I set the path to my other VST3 plugins?
This is from Cubase 13 and the path allows for VST3 dlls and libraries to work in Cubase 13. So go correct yourself pal. But that function has just been removed from Cubase 14.30.
I have been using Steinberg since the Atari days and I get tired of stupid puppies who thing they know.
YOU ARE DEAD WRONG JUST LIKE THE OTHER ANSWERS.
All you had to do was click on the + and add the new path and then hit the refresh.
What does it feel like to be DEAD WRONG pal.
Minor interface change. HERE IS YOUR SOLUTION
Click on the VST 2 at the bottom and then + and add the directory path to your D:Drive .
Then click the circle arrow at the top and it will auto load load all your VST3 plugins on the D: drive on startup. I have been using this method for years. It loads VST3 files no problem.
Sorry, I didn’t see this part. Since you asked, being wrong is part of being alive. I look forward to instances where I can both educate and better myself, and being wrong is a wonderful opportunity for that. I was simply saying how the article appeared to indicate my statement, of course, which it did.
One should note the VST2 path, limited as it is, only works on non-Native Apple Silicon systems, so I can’t verify beyond that.
You seem to have the issue well in hand, though. So good luck out there!
P.S.
I hope your day gets better. You seem to having a really hard time. It’s OK man. Don’t let the little things get you down.
Here is the Image of Cubase 14. Ignore the fact it says VST2 (which i have not used for years) It will load any vst instruments or fx that will work on your system. Ignore teh other answers they dont know. They are just nit picking
