Unable to get chord diagrams to show at start of flow

Followed John Barron’s instructions from the Youtube video for easy leadsheets. Here’s the file. Any ideas why the space is created for a row of diagrams, but no diagrams appear? All chords are standard - nothing exotic.

Come Back Home.dorico (913 KB)

Click on Engrave mode selector, right-click on page 1 and select “Remove All Page Overrides.”. The chord symbols appear again.

For some reason you also had another purple graphic frame containing chords, I wonder if that was a graphic slice you created and imported into the flow? You can delete that one, otherwise there are two boxes of chord diagrams.

Thank you! I was using a graphic slice to create the list of chord diagrams. And I may have to return to that method if I can’t figure out how to get the chord symbols lowered to the diagram (as shown in the graphic slice). I can’t find a setting in Layout Options, and I can’t manually move them down in Engrave Mode as they won’t highlight with the Graphic Editing tool like chords in the song. Maybe a bug? Or the feature still needs fine-tuning?

Luke, at the risk of sounding snarky (I don’t mean to be), I would guess that something was changed — maybe a while back — in your chord definitions and saved as a default. (A pet peeve of mine is the frequency in which a user cries “bug” instead of wondering if there was a “user error”! Not saying that this was the case!)

I’m not an expert here, but I would suggest that you try to return to the factory defaults and go from there. If you have made edits to the chord diagrams in the past, maybe this is an opportunity to redo them now that you have gained some experience with the program. Edits made when starting out may be contributing to the difficulties now.

I don’t think you can align them the way you want, I’m afraid. Not that I could find anyway.

No worries. Here’s what I’m talking about (see pic). I can adjust the baseline alignment of chords in the song itself, but those settings are not reflected in the “chord diagrams at the start of the flow”. You can see the difference in the first bars of the song vs the chord diagrams at the top.

Aah! I was thinking of another recent thread that had misaligned accidentals! I must have conflated the two!

These look like there are two different display philosophies at work: one that uses the baseline (whether or not an altered bass tone is applied, and the other using a “top-aligned” style that keeps the bass tone below (possibly to avoid confusion)?

All good. There’s “avoiding confusion” vs. “what the client wants”. I need the chords to match. I hope Steinberg gives us the option to change baseline settings for the “chord symbols at the start of the flow” like we have for the song itself. I don’t believe it’s currently there.
