I’m trying to import a Midi File that I know contains lyrics but although the notes come in OK, the lyrics are omitted.
I’m running Dorico Elements 5.1.81.xxxx
Is this even possible at this level.
No, I don’t think Dorico brings in lyrics from a MIDI file, as they are not really in the MIDI standard, but included as metadata.
Can you find the lyrics online anywhere? Then use a hyphenator like this one.
Then you can copy the whole text and paste the syllables in.

Thanks for that.
In the mean time I’ve found a work-around that may be useful to others…
- Import the Midi(+lyrics) file into Musescore.
- Export that as an uncompressed MusicXML file (works better than MXL)
- Import that into Dorico and fix any errors
I’m hoping that somebody will tell me how to do this directly with Dorico.
