Uninstall old version before installing new Cubase?

I am currently on Cubase 14 but plan on upgrading to Cubase 15.

Obviously, the easiest way to do this would be to just install the new version.

However, I wonder if it might be better to completely uninstall the older version before installing the new one in order to minimize the risk of potential interferences and decreased stability.

Is there a consensus on what would be the better way of upgrading?

Thanks in advance!

There is no need to do that at all.

If for some reason you want to start v15 with clean prefs you can temporarily rename your v14 prefs folder so that 15 doesn’t import them.

But really there’s no need to worry, both applications run next to each other perfectly fine.

You can uninstall 14 later, once you are sure 15 is running and working etc.

Thanks a lot for the helpful reply! Uninstalling C14 later on sounds like a great idea!

Good. Just keep us updated and post some system info later if you can. :folded_hands:

I always keep the new and last version installed. I’ve never had a problem.

Be prepared to manually recreate your ControlRoom presets. They have changed the structure and location in Cubase 15. The same has occasionally been reported for RAM presets.
Other than that the transfer of preferences works flawlessly.
If you want a clean slate rename your preference folders two versions down or uninstall these Cubase versions. No need for that unless there’s a special reason.
