Is there a way to unlink chords symbols. I need to have chords played a certain way for one inst. and then a more simple version in another instrument. In the attached example the piano has to alternate between two chords while the guitar sustains one chord. In the pop up panel below I was able to ask the program to hide the chords in the guitar stave but then the chords still show in the Engrave and Print modes. (these dorico pre-sets are VERY frustrating). Can someone please help?
Hi @lancebryant.sax, did you try with Local Chord Symbols?
Excerpt:
If you need to add the chord symbols inside a tied note, you need to activate the caret to input them at the desired position.
Hey Christian, a little while ago you posted instructions for entering chord symbols globally by using ALT while typing the chord symbol in the popover. Thanks again, but I’m not sure if that’s working for me. I have chord changes happening on the first beats of the measures for the piano and guitar but for the solo instrument, (trombone) the chord needs to show on the third beats. For the tbn stave I typed the chord in using ALT on the third beat but the chord still shows up in the piano and gtr staves on the third beat as well. Then I have to go and Hide that unwanted chord for those players. But I noticed the instructions you posted looks like it’s for Dorico 6.1. I have Dorico 5. So, is local chord positioning a newer feature?
