Does anyone know if it’s possible to unmix a song to the normal stems but also seperate out the drums as well, in one action? I mean to Kick, snare, hi-hat, cymbals.
I tried it but it seems that you first need to do a normal song unmix, and then apply the drum unmix to the already unmixed drum stem.
But this is an annoying double action as, in many cases, i know from the get-go that i also want to seperate out the drums. So i’d prefer a one-click action that does it all in one go.
Of course you can, it’s super easy.
Use a module chain, place “Unmix song” at the top and “Unmix drums” below it, then click on the “Unmix drums” layers button and choose “Drums” as its target layer.
And here’s the ultimate unmixing modules chain, going from one concert layer to 15 unmixed layers in one click (although I would not advice to do that blindly )
Thank you for the response. Where can I expect to find the toms? Will they appear in the “Cymbals” track, the “Kick” track, the “Snare” track or any of the other tracks, like the “Other” track?
Unmix Drums produces 4 layers : Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat and Cymbals.
Toms are likely going to be unmixed in the Kick layers (and possibly, in the Snare layer depending on how they sound).
Yes, I often find the bigger toms in the kick layer and the smaller toms in the snare layer.
From there I select the kicks (possibly by using ”Select similar”) and move the to a new layer.
Same with the snare hits.
”Select similar” can be tricky though, so another alternative could be to move the kick/snare beats - or toms - to another layer with the Transfer tool.
