Unmix Song - blackscreen SL12 - AMD RX6800XT

Hi, after installing SL12, no layers are displayed after the unmixed song, either in standalone mode or as ARA in Cubase 14 (current version).

The entire display is black.
Am I doing something wrong, or is something wrong?

Do you have the Fraunhofer mp3 codec installed?
Try unmixing a vaw file and see if that works as expected.

Hi Shortstop,

yes the Fraunhofer codec is installed, when i unmix the Vocals for example, the Layer are separated … but not in unmix song, I try it in SL 11 at this moment …

I tried different songs and now restarted the computer again.
I thought I missed a check mark in some menu.
Now I’m trying the unmix song command again. … same result …

Thanks for your quick reply.

@Jonas2021 if you still have the issue, what OS, CPU and GPU do you have ?
In case you’re on Windows with a GPU, can you go to Edit > Preferences > System > AI Processing Device, set it to CPU, and try again ?

Thanks Robin,
for taking the time to help me.

The CPU settings look as expected.

The graphics card works as expected for some functions, such as de-mixing vocals. Will there be an update in the near future that will also allow my graphics card to work in this function?

Great improvements in the areas I’ve been able to glimpse so far.
Thanks for your work.

Did you have the Bypass Preview button selected (yellow)?
That seems to cause this bug.

Hi digitaldiggo,
Can you please be a bit more specific?
Unfortunately, I don’t know which button you mean.
Where exactly can I find it?

@digitaldiggo
If you look at the first screenshot left and right channels a soloed.
That wouldn’t cause the screen to go black.
There are no layers or channels that are muted.

Thanks to everyone who wants to help me here.
With the graphics card and medium settings, the “Song Unmix” command works as expected.

High:

At the bottom of the dialog which pops up for Unmix Song

No, I didn’t activate the button.

It wasn’t in the preview either, but after rendering.

If I select Module>Unmix Song, then select (yellow) the Bypass button in the popup dialog, rendering happens instantly to a blank page as per your screenshot. If I “unselect” Bypass (i.e. leave it in the default state), unmixing proceeds normally (no preview). I have processing set to Nvidia GPU.

To Robin_Lobel,
the problem only occurs for me with the graphics card at high settings.
Everything else works as expected.
There will probably be a fix for this in the future, and until then, the CPU settings will also work for me.

If I can help in any way, please let me know.

Greetings

Jonas

i´ll check this,

a little patience, please.

Are the settings also set to high?

So, with the graphics card, unmix settings set to medium, the song unmix command runs normally in the preview (only with the designated layer).

If I set it to high, an error message appears stating that my CPU is too slow to handle the realtime-preview.
