I think I made a pretty big mistake when trying to create an instrument myself. I accidentally narrowed the original instrument ‘Choir, mixed’ to one staff for the singers, which rendered it unusable, and no more instruments are loaded. Only afterwards did I realise that I should have made a copy of the existing instrument and then narrowed the entry down to one stave from that. I suspect I will have to reinstall Dorico, or is there a repair kit? I tried to undo the change I made in the instrument dialogue using the undo tool, but without success. I have already posted in the forum, but have not yet received any feedback.

How did you do exactly this?
what do you mean unusable?
you mean you can not load other instruments in that project, or in any new or old project?
Can you upload the Dorico file that presents the issue? Normally all changes made in Dorico can be undone in a non linear way. (Please also explain what you need the final result to be in your uploaded Project)
Sorry, my Dorico App is in German language - i send an attachment. You can see that the track for the ‘Chor’ stave is not visible in the mixer. Only instruments that are actually loaded are displayed in the mixer. On the left side of the Inspector, you can see that there is no entry at the top of the field where the sound generator and instrument should be displayed.
However, you should know that I only work with the Vienna Symphonic Library as a sound generator. But it doesn’t work any better with Halion Sonic. Try the ‘All’ playback template, but I couldn’t find any vocals in the Halion sounds.

Because the mixed choir is only available in the version with two staves, I wanted to create a version with one staff. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of changing the original. Since then, I have been unable to load any voices. Although I have restored the original state with two staves in the Create Instrument dialogue, I am still unable to load any instruments.
Hi @aelbler-ralf, here an example of your file where I corrected the Playback Template.
By opening it it loaded the VSL Studio SE instruments (which I have). Only the Choir was not loaded, because I don’t have any VSL singer library.
I used the VSL Default playback template, generated with the Dorico Wizard, in the Vienna Assistant app.
I Edited that playback template, combining it with the factory Playback template HALion Sonic Selection, Olympus which contains the Olympus Choir (which comes with Dorico).
Then I added a Family override for that Entry which tells Dorico to only use that part of the template for singers (you can of course edit your own VSL playback template):
Reapplying the newly edited and renamed PT, all works as expected.
Here the Dorico file and the playback template in case you want to try with it:

Leise rieselt der Schnee-CORRECTED PLAYBACK TEMPLATE.dorico (1.5 MB)
Customised playback template (you can load it from the Apply Playback Template dialogue):
VSL Default Template+olympus.dorico_pt.zip (430.3 KB)
And here the playback:
EDIT:
It works nicely with the Auto Playback Template (it will only use Halion libraries, no VSL. And notice that you have only Single players, so it is not using Iconica Sketch for the strings).
Here the same Project with the Auto Playback template applied:
Leise rieselt der Schnee-WITH AUTO PLAYBACK TEMPLATE.dorico (2.5 MB)
Hi Christian,
Which folder should the playback template file be placed in? Please provide the file path. I searched for the file extension dorico_pt (which your file had, by the way, so that I could locate the file path) in Windows Explorer, but nothing was found. Please explain. If I don’t know where to place the file, there’s no point in playing back the corrected Dorico file, because Dorico asks for this playback template. The problem is probably a corrupted instrument database. If there is something like a repair kit for Dorico, it could possibly solve my problem.

Hi Christian,
If I were forced to uninstall Dorico and reinstall it, would my project folder remain intact in this case?
You just need to import the playback template from the Apply Playback template, ate dialogue (which you can reach from menu Play > Playback Template), once imported you can apply it clicking on Apply and Close:
There is very seldom the need of uninstalling and reinstalling Dorico. The project folder I believe will remain untouched. But to be sure (and as a very general rule on everything IT) always have at least two backups of your data/system in different physical locations at any time
There is also the useful functionality of Exporting and Reimporting your user settings:
Meaning the folder where you store your own Dorico projects? Yes, uninstalling Dorico will not touch that.
