I guess the Finale notation just looks good on the surface - and the xml export import reveals dodgy notation.
You can easily fix this in Dorico: switch to Insert Mode, delete the tuplet numbers, one by one. This will leave the notes intact. Correct note values (like the falsely dotted notes). Then while still in Insert Mode, make the notes to triplets, where applicable. Once it looks fine make sure to leave Insert Mode.
OK I’ve tried using insert mode to correct the triplets. But doing so makes a total mess of subsequent measures. So I tried the insert mode with a “block” (thick red bar) at the end of the measure, but the music still reflowed to the next bar, albeit differently.
Is there a way to isolate one measure so that the rhythm can be edited without affecting the subsequent measures?
What I have done in these cases, before understanding how the different Insert Modes worked: I inserted one or two bars after the bit I wanted to fix and made the corrections without Insert mode. Then later deleted the extra bars…
Another approach, when you have unwanted triplets filled with dotted notes, is to un-dot them first (leaving rests), and then just delete the tuplets. No insert mode needed, and the notes never need to move.
