Anti-virus/malware software?

Insufficient disk space?

Privacy settings as described here; for which a solution may be manually toggle Network Permission OFF and ON?

Finally, when updating to Dorico 6, I ran into an issue: the Steinberg Download Assistant wasn’t working properly. Checking for updates from inside Dorico just told me there was an update available, but didn’t actually help with the installation.

I found a solution on the Steinberg Help Center. It involved manually reinstalling some missing components. Here’s what I did:

  • Went to the Steinberg help page for issues with the Download Assistant not installing or updating properly
  • Selected macOS to get the right download links
  • Followed their advice to restart the system first, to make sure all related apps and background services were fully closed
  • Downloaded and reinstalled five key utilities, one by one:
    • eLicenser Control Center
    • Steinberg Activation Manager
    • Steinberg Installation Assistant
    • Steinberg Library Manager
    • Steinberg MediaBay
  • Also reinstalled the latest version of the Steinberg Download Assistant

After all that, the Dorico update finally went through. Ouf…

I sympathise. Updates can be frustrating. For me, most often, it is Steinberg apps refusing to update themselves whilst they claim that they are updating themselves. (for some reason media bay 65Mb update appears every time and then spends quite a few minutes thinking about life!)

I’m getting the following error message when trying to update on my M1 Macbook Pro (for both Dorico 6.0.10 and HALion Sonic 7.1.40 – Instrument). Installation went perfectly on my M2 Mac Studio, but for some reason installation on my Macbook Pro instantly stops with the error message.

@dspreadbury, are direct download links available for the update and the HALion instrument?

I’m not sure the download on this webpage has been updated to version 6.0.10:

No, not yet. I did check that and it’s still 6.0.0. But in fairness to Daniel and crew, the update was just released today so there’s inevitably going to be some delay before those pages get updated and I’m okay with that. Fortunately I do the vast majority of my Dorico work on my Mac Studio so I’m good.

And a huge thank you to the Dorico team for all of the brilliant stuff that’s in this update!

You can of course download the installer on one computer using SDA, and then copy it over your local network to the other one. (You should be able to use AirDrop.)

It’s a public holiday in Germany today, so my colleagues in our support team who work on the updates to the support web pages aren’t around. But they will of course update those pages as soon as possible.

Thank you, Daniel! Now why didn’t I think of that?! That worked perfectly. Enjoy your weekend!

I cannot download the update Dorico 6.0.10. I am unable to download Download Assistant - I got this notification:

nor could I find another way to update to Dorico 6.0.10. Can you please advise what I need to do?

Please manually download and reinstall the latest version of Steinberg Download Assistant here.

Done, but I am getting the same message. I can’t see the update listed on the Steinberg Downloads page.

Unfortunately, until my colleagues in support are back after this holiday weekend, the downloads page won’t be updated.

Do you have a VPN or proxy server active on your computer? If so, please try disabling that temporarily.

Thanks, but easier for me I think to wait until after your colleagues are back. I can wait a few days!

Dorico installed another version into the Applications folder, so now both the newer and the older version are there. The new version did not replace the older one. Please check this. I’m using a MacBook Air with an M1 processor.

Welcome to the forum, @Atte_Tenkanen. If you renamed the original Dorico 6 application package, then the new one will be installed alongside it. This is a feature rather than a bug, as it allows you to easily have multiple minor versions of Dorico installed on the same machine. If you don’t want to keep Dorico 6.0, you can simply drag that application package to the trash.

Yes, I did it but forgot and noticed that just later.

I still can’t see a way to download the update to version 6.0.10 without the Steinberg Download Assistant, which I can’t download.

I think it is from this page…

Thanks so much. Obvious once it is pointed out!
