Updating from Cubase 11 to 14 being a university student

Hi,

I bought Cubase 11 Pro a few years back and I’m thinking about updating to 14, as 11 can not be migrated to the new licensing program and I don’t want to risk losing/breaking my USB-Licenser. However, 250€ for an upgrade seems an outrageuos price for old customers, in my opinion, especially for students as me who barely get by, working and studying at the same time.

So my question is: does anyone know if the student discount also applies to updates? I see you can buy Cubase 14 Pro as a verified university student for 360€ (220€ discount!), but I can find no discount for updates :frowning:

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news - there is no special update discount for educational licenses. The educational license is a one time thing. Once you update the educational license all restrictions that came with it are lifted. That’s a good thing.

What you can do: First, please make sure that your C11 license is properly registered in your MySteinberg account in case your eLicenser should break for whatever reasons. This way you will always be eligible for future updates based on this pre-existing license. Now, just wait for the next sale… this will probably be in the same ballpark as the discount you were looking for in the first place. If you are in no rush (no need to be worried because of the End of Service for the eLicenser) - there you go :slight_smile:

there is no edu pricing for updates. you only get it on the full version last time I checked

Thanks for the quick response! I already added the eLincenser to MySteinberg a time ago, so I guess it depends on whatever happens first: a sale offer I can’t refuse or my precious dongle reaching the end of its life cycle :sweat_smile:

Haha, relax, these dongles are really robust :slight_smile: - you might as well grow old with it. Sales with nice discounts occur much more often so I would put my money on the second one :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There was a sale on Cubase and Cubase upgrades that ended just a few weeks ago - you’re just a few weeks too late for that. I’m sure it will go on sale again at some point, but it probably won’t be right away since they just had a sale.
