Hi there
I need a little advice, i havent used cubase in many, many years. The last version i had was Cubase 5 with the USB licenser.
I want to get Cubase 13, is it possible to just pay for the update version?
Two key things to note, my licenser is in another country and i dont have Cubase 5 installed on this system.
Does anyone know what my options are? Thank you.
Hi Steve, and welcome to the forum.
I don’t think it’s possible to upgrade from any version older than Cubase 6 at the moment, however you could download a 60-day trial version right now, without needing the USB-eLicenser, as that’s no longer required.
You might also consider starting off with Cubase Elements, as the current version is quite powerful compared to Cubase 5. Later, if you need more, you can always upgrade from Elements, to Artist, to Pro for only the price difference between the editions, which I find very fair.
Gotcha… Maybe ill just get the trial and see what happens. The only reason i ask is because when i go to the purchase page, under the “update” section it includes cubase 5 and even 4.
However as i dont have it installed im not sure the update would work anyway and since i dont have the licenser i wouldnt be able to activate it.
Ill look into Elements and take your advice too, thanks.
OK, it may be different depending on what territory you are located in.
Without the physical USB-eLicenser, you would not be able to avail of the update.
Okay, thanks for all the help MrSoundman… All the best.
