Updating notes on an imported midi file don't play back correctly

Hi,

I use quite a lot of midi imports in Dorico.

Once I import the midi file, I sometimes have to do amendments on the notes in the sheetmusic.
For some reason these are not replicating correctly in the midi playback afterwards.

Is there a way to have the midi file synced back to the notes I amend so that I can listen back to the tune?

Thanks in advance.

Jeroen

What sort of amendments?

Remember that Dorico can make overrides (as with all things) to the playback start and stop of a note. These are properties of a note.

But fi you change the pitch, then this will change in the new MIDI export.

When importing a midi file and I change notes and rhythm in the sheet music. The play back still plays the original midi and add the notes while not chaning the rhythm.

If I change the lengt of a note from an eight/quaver to a sixteenth/semiquaver and add another sixteenth/semiquaver in order to keep the right amount of notes, the playback still plays the quaver and plays the added semiquaver so the length isn’t amended accordingly in the midi playback.

You’ll need to supply a sample document.

There is a way to draw playback directly from the MIDI in spite of note changes or to make the MIDI conform to the notes. I forget where to go to activate that and hope someone will chip in with that info.

Have you tried Play menu->Reset Playback Overrides? When you import a midi file, toward the bottom of the dialog is an import options section that has a preserve note velocities and positions that you’ll probably want un-checked.
