Upgrade cubase 9 to 14

Hi , i am running Cubase 9 Artist and I’m thinking of upgrading to either pro or artist 14. Why should I move to pro why is it much better and is it worth it or do I stick with artist. any pro or cons you guys have would be appreciated. Also, when I up grade I don’t need to use my usb anymore how does that work. Also was using windows 10 and in process today of upgrading to windows 11
thanks for any input

Well basically you get more features. But only you can decide if those additional capabilities are worth it for what you want to use Cubase for. Here’s a comparison chart.

There are several threads here explaining this in detail, you should search out one of those. But basically you’ll end up with a dongle license for Cubase 11. This should continue to work until the hardware fails. And you’ll have a Cubase 14 license that you can use on up to 3 computers.

Two features which convinced me to go for a Pro were Control Room and the Logical Editor. Look at the comparison and make your choice. You can always buy pro later.

Good point. Plus you’ll also be getting a lot of new features just going from 9 to 14.

will my Projects from 9 work in 14 pro . or Plugins work in those projects
Thanks

They should : I have recently opened a project done with Cubase 6.5.5. I got few messages warning me about missing ports (I have changed my audio interface, since) and plug-ins (I no longer use and haven’t bother reinstalling them on my current setup - be aware, though, that some Steinberg plug-ins like Mystic, Spector or Loopmash are no longer available in Cubase 14).

Overall, the fact is that the project is perfectly working, though it has been lastly saved something like 12 years ago.

Absolutely agree, using the control room is so cool for using tools like iSOL8, also for hearing different reference cues, etc…
Def Pro for serious even amateur users.

Amateurs can as serious as pros…

Yes I would even argue many amateur musicians make better music than the pros, perhaps not sonically, but musically.
I find much modern pop plastic-like, modern metal robotic, etc… Good thing there are many indie artists and producers making really great songs. I think about the angelic Phildel for example. Liking Steven Wilson too, though he’s not in the amateur category at all, but sincere. Love his use of Supermassive on guitars and vocals.

what do they mean 3 computers, I think I’m going pro

You may only use a 10th of the power of the Pro version, as I do, but one day, you’ll have an idea/issue that can only be implemented/solved by using the Pro version.
If you take your music seriously, it’s worth it.

You can have the software activated on up to three computers at any given time. If you want to use it on a fourth, you need to deactivate it on one of the other three. This goes for all versions that use Steinberg Licensing, not just Pro.
