Upgrade failed, license Artist 14 does not appy

I have a license for Cubase AI 13 which came with my Steinberg UR44. With Cubase I upgraded to Cubase Artist 14 and paid for it. When I enter the Access Code in Download Assistant 1.36.4 I get the error: 'You entered a Download Access Code for a product upgrade but you do not own a license to which this upgrade can be applied.

Please help

Please show the exact update you bought and open elicenser control centre and show exactly which license you have.

Cubase has done a refund, thanks!

I am having the same issue, I have Cubase Elements 13 and bought an upgrade today for Artist 14 and keep getting the same message.

Any help would be awesome

Please have a look at the ā€œreceiptā€ from your purchase, which exact product you obtained.
Does it say ā€œupgrade from Cubase Elements 13 to Cubase Artist 14ā€?

It says ā€˜Cubase Artist 14 Upgrade from Cubase Elements 12 - 13’ on the receipt

That’s good. Now if you open your account on steinberg.net and look under products, does it show Cubase Elements 12 or 13?

It does not.. it says elements 14? I bought elements 13 tho about 2, 3 months ago at tops and that’s what I’ve been using is elements 13

I don’t know where you got Elements 13 from a couple of months ago because version 14 was released half a year ago.
Be that as it may - here is what most likely happened: You activated your Cubase Elements when 14 was already out. Since a new license activation will always give you the latest version, you got Elements 14… without realizing it.

This also explains the error message - you have overpaid Steinberg and there is no old 12/13 license to upgrade from.
The best thing is to get in touch with the place you bought the upgrade from, get a refund for the upgrade product you have and switch it to the upgrade product that you need: Elements 14 to Artist 14.
If you used the Steinberg online shop, go here and look under Billing & Refunds:

Yahhh I bought it off someone who was selling it. The code redeemed perfectly fine and I’ve been using it. When I downloaded it it also downloaded 12 and 14 but I thought 14 was just a trial so I’ve been using 13. I went to Steinberg today and bought the upgrade from elements 13 to Artist 14 and I financed it seeing that I could just pay it back a little over time. Soooo hopefully something can be figured out. I really REALLY appriciate you and all the help you’ve given! I’ll respond once I get in touch with Steinberg. I sent them an email today and seeing that it’s Friday, I probably won’t hear back until Monday.

You’re welcome. I hope you get your Artist 14 soonest.

Same here.
I had cubase AI 14 which came with UR44c. Then i paid and upgraded to elements 14.
Now i bought an upgrade from AI 14 to Artist 14 just to found that the license from AI 14 was replaced to Elements 14 and i cant activate it now. I thought its obvious i could upgrade that way. In summary i paid for ur44c + 200euros and i m stuck with elements 14

To be honest - I have a problem understanding your expectation.
Elements inclues all features of AI, so if you have Elements you don’t need AI anymore (but you can still open it because your Elements license allows you to run Cubase AI as well).
When you want to upgrade to Artist it is cheaper to upgrade from Elements to Artist.

Why do you want to pay more the upgrade?

I found a cheap upgrade from AI 14 to artist 14 on Thomann costing 150 and bought it already. Upgrading from elements 14 to artist 14 via Steinberg site it’s 220.
I think Steinberg should include all licenses downwards when buying ā€œhigherā€ upgrades
Thanks for the response anyway
