I purchased Cubase 14 which includes Spectralayer Go 11. Works stand-alone or as VST3.
I want to take a mono band recording and export stems of all instruments and vocal.
Is upgrading from Spectralayer Go 11 to Spectralayer Pro 11 (instead of 12) possible?
Or just better to go Pro 12? I read some comments that some weren’t happy with the unmix song results from 12, and thought 11 did better.
Alternatively, will Spectralayers Elements do the job for me?
Thanks for any enlightenment you can bestow upon me.
What do you want out of the unmix song? SLP12 Unmix Song is better than SLP11 at drum separation from instruments and vocals in my tests. To be clear: “at drum separation from the other instruments”!
If you want solo-able stems out of unmix song, it will really depend upon what you want. But if you are hoping you will get perfectly separated stems of layered instruments, I’d say that you will achieve a starting point for which you might be facing a lot of time to separate layered guitars or synth parts. And after months of work, you might not get there. But maybe you are hoping for a rebalancing…still, there would be a lot of manual separation work
I mean, I’ve done a bunch of tests on some high level fretless bass playing unmixing and SL11 and 12 are not able to give me anything but a starting point…for something that might takes months to separate manually after the unmixing.
Can you maybe run the free trial and see if SLP will do what you want?
