How are you liking Absolute 5, Jeff? What is your impression so far? High Quality? Are the sounds dated or useful? Which products in the bundle are your favorite?
Iām not regretting my purchase of Absolute 5 at the discounted price I paid. I havenāt had much time to really try it all out. Iām happy to have the orchestra, choir, and piano stuff, all of which sound great to me (Note Iāve been away from music production for enough years that Iām pretty easily impressed). Iāve decided that if I am going to really take the time to learn how to use Groove Agent, Iām glad to have all it offers. Halion 6, I still have no idea how it works, so Iāve got a bunch of time watching tutorials ahead of me - but Iām glad to have a sampler. The bass guitar vst seems nice if I ever want to avoid recording an actual electric bass. There is so much in Absolute, even if people see it as old, it is new to me. And I should also mention that I like how it integrates so well into Cubase Pro.

The upgrade to A5 as a pathway to A6 didnāt quite work out as expected. I thought there might be a grace period announced for A6 after H7 dropped but since they dropped at the same time my A5 license is only good for A5, no grace period. To go to A6 I need to upgradeā¦again.
It still saved money to do it this way but not as much as expected.
If you have upgraded to A5 today, they do give you a free upgrade to A6. In fact, if someone has updated it since November 1, it enters the grace period. Log into your MySteinberg account and look at your coupons. I have activated today the update from A4 to A5 and I have got the A6 for free.

You should get A6 free of charge. Do as @MrTopo says - activate A5 now, as it is after the grace period has started. Run Maintenance in eLicenser Control Center to make sure that the database is synchronised with your licence. You should get a voucher in your MySteinberg account to upgrade A5 to A6 - if it doesnāt appear immediately, wait a few hours and look again.

Iām glad that my suggestion to buy Absolute 5 in the sale, activate in the grace period and get Absolute 6 without further payment worked for you.
It turns out that Steinberg were particularly generous this time round, starting the Absolute 5 / HALion 6 / HALion Sonic 3 grace periods back on 1 November 2022. I think this means that anyone buying Absolute 5 in the end of year sale last year will get a free update to Absolute 6, even if they activated immediately. However, by waiting to activate, you ensured that you would get the free update - with Steinberg, you donāt lose out by activating after the grace period has started or after the new version has released.
Enjoy HALion 7 as well as the other components of Absolute that you did not previously have!
So based on this logic, can we guess Groove Agent 6 is on the way for Absolute 7 in new year or so?
