I’m looking at upgrading Cubase from 11 to 13. I currently own Cubase 11 Pro, but looking at the feature list it looks like Cubase 13 Artist would suit my needs, so I no longer require the more expensive pro version.
When trying to update on the steinberg website, I only have the option to update to Cubase 13 Pro from 11 Pro.
When clicking to update to Cubase Artist 13, cubase pro isn’t listed on the required products. States you need Cubase Artist 11, with pro version not listed.
Anyone know if the Artist 13 upgrade will work from Pro 11? I assume it will as Pro has more features than Artist, but my only concern is it isn’t listed.
welcome to the forum.
As far as I can tell, Steinberg doesn’t offer “downgrades” to a smaller Cubase variants. If you have a Pro license, you can only update to a newer Pro version. So if you buy an Artist 13 upgrade, you probably won’t be able to apply it to your Pro license.
I guess this is still the case? I also own an earlier Pro edition and would upgrade to 14 Artist now.
Not offering discounts to people who have spent more in the past than others just doesn’t seem right.
Just wanted to vent that I find it unfair. I have spent more for Pro in the past than others that went for Artist or Elements, and now I have to spend more than them again for upgrading to a higher version.
We call this an update, not an upgrade. Upgrade is if you go from a lower edition to a higher one. An update is if you keep the edition level and you go to a higher version.
(Although I don’t know how these semantics would change anything about my argument. I don’t need all the features of Pro anymore, so let’s make me pay more now than if I had not needed them the last years?)
