Just FYI - after upgrading to Windows 11 25H2 I noticed small glitches in Cubase 14. A long time ago I had some similar issues and back then it was Windows Defender doing background scanning. So, I finally decided to check my virus scan exclusions and they had all disappeared. Now I am attempting to re-add all of those exclusions - folders, File Types, Files, etc.
Thanks for the heads up. Three of my machines have now updated and I checked the exclusions on each of them after your warning. All three still have the exclusions in place so if there’s a pattern, it’s a mysterious one.
Can you give some suggestions on which Steinberg folders to add to exclusions? It’s kind of scattered and maybe some are better excluded than others.
I’m going by memory as I’m not near my machines, but the main folders for me are:
Steinberg executable folder (in Program Files)
Plugin folders (VST3 and VST2 if you’ve got them)
Preferences
Samples and virtual instrument libraries
Project folders
Also the Cubase executable
CubaseXX.exe (where XX = 14 currently)
Thanks! I added a few others that you mention including the appdata local and roaming folders.
Not sure if it’s just this latest update or adding more exclusions, but Cubase seems to load much faster now.
I’d forgot about exclusions. It’s something I did ages ago and haven’t revisited. Could be why loading time is slow. Thanks for the reminder ![]()
