UR 12 imac Taheo 26.3

Why?! For everyone else searching for why their audio interface doesn’t work..

without any notice, Steinberg no longer supports the imac connectivity.

After a long search.. yes I’ve tried everything, I only found out that the problem is that I need to buy a new audio interface because Steinberg no longer updates their software.

You can imagine it won’t be a Steinberg..

Loyalty only goes so far.

Welcome to the forum.

I’m not sure where your problem really is, because you are not clearly writing what error you get.

But the UR 12 is officially supported with Tahoe 26

You can find the information here

i’m not getting any error, the download softwaren doesnt unzip.

so after a long search my Bax technician told me that the problem lies with Steinberg, that they no longer support the ur12

in this list the ur12 is not mentioned either

What is a Bax Technician?
A zip archive that can’t be opened would not amount to such a conclusion though.

To be clear - you are saying that you downloaded the software, and could not install it due to not being able to extract the files from the zip archive?

The list in my screenshot clearly shows the UR 12 and @steve now also marked it in red, so it is even more visible as “compatible”.

As @steve says, no idea what a Bax technician is, but his statement is simply wrong.

well Steinberg didnt help me out,
the zip would not start, downloaded hundred times

asked chat and chat told me to byroute the security.. so I called Bax.. my trusted audio gear suplier and even though you say it will work.. could you please tell me how?

For the downloads from the steinberg site do not work

I checked again, because of your certainty..
however the zip will not open/start,
I’ve read the guided document, removed all other usb connections .. no luck

I’m still not able to use the ur12 interface with ios Tahoe 26.3

I have no Apple hardware, so I can not fully test the packages, but I downloaded the zip files for the firmware and the USB driver to my Windows machine.

I can easily open them and extract the content, there is no issue at all. On MacOS you should be able to just double click the downloaded zip file and the Finder should show you the contents. That can be copied to your disk and from there you can start it.

A zip file does not start, it is just a container for files.

The Windows explorer works the same way and this is what is in the USB driver zip file.

and this is the firmware package.

  • So first step, are you able to see the contents of these zip files in your MacOS Finder?
  • If yes, did you extract them to some location on your disk?
  • You did not write if you have an Intel based iMac or one with the Apple Silicon chips. So what you do next depends on what Hardware you have.

If it is Apple silicon and you are installing the driver for the first time you need to follow the steps described in the below support document, due to the massively restricted Apple security.

F F F!!!
