UR22C Output levels virtually nil when recording into audacity

Hi

I’ve had the UR22C for years and have never been able to get it to work. I gave it another try today and finally got Audacity to recognise it as a recording and playback device - this is probably user error.

When I try to record through a microphone into Audacity the levels do not move much, even when I have the gain and output levels at max.

ANy hints on how to fix this?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

These are Audacity questions - you should probably pose them in an Audacity forum.

For peace of mind and to rule out issues with the UR22C, you could download a Cubase trial version and give it a test run. That’s where the forum comes in.

Now that I think about it, I have never heard of a broken Steinberg audiointerface - it doesn’t mean there are none, of course.

  • Is phantom power turned on (if that’s a mic that needs it)?

  • Did you turn the input gain up on the UR22C inputs?

Maybe review the info on this page: UR22C: The Perfect Portable Interface | Steinberg
