UR44 driver fix

struggled to get my ur44 to work with ableton 12, windows 11

i had anthropic’s claude.ai diagnose, im just sharing the fix:

  1. Symptom: “Failed to open the audio device Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO” + Yamaha driver panel shows blank Device field
  2. Cause: Windows overrides the Yamaha driver with its own generic USB Audio 2.0 driver
  3. Fix: Device Manager → right-click UR44 (check properties/details tab first and ensure it says USB 2.0 - I had 2 Steinberg entries, the other for MIDI) → Update Driver → Browse → Let me pick → Yamaha Corporation → Yamaha Steinberg USB Audio

The unit now works with all inputs and outputs as intended.
