Hey everyone,
I’m struggling with an issue with my UR44C audio interface ever since I switched from Windows to macOS. I use a MIDI-controller keyboard to generate MIDI signals that go to the MIDI in of my audio interface. In my DAW I use virtual instruments to generate sound out of the MIDI signals.
Since switching to macOS I occasionally experience delayed notes or chords, as if the MIDI signal was transmitted late. There are no cracks or pops, it’s just as if I had hit the keys a quarter of a second late. I never had this issue on windows before, so I did a lot of testing to find out where it’s rooted: I updated driver and firmware of the UR44C, I used a different MIDI controller keyboard, several MIDI cables, tested a virtual instrument in standalone mode, but always with the same results. Eventually I found out about the available Beta driver and tested it as well. Nothing worked.
Then I decided to try and run the MIDI-signal directly into my MacBook via a small USB-MIDI-Interface (Roland UM-One mk2). After changing up my setup like that the delayed notes finally were gone.
This apparently has to do with the audio interface. Since the same device worked flawless under Windows I assume it is some sort of driver issue and not a hardware failure.
Did anybody experience something similar before? Does somebody maybe eben know a solution? Maybe Steinberg can contribute some comment?
Thanks for any help, hint or advice.
