Hi
Im planning to buy UR44C and I just saw the RED edition. The only deference that I noticed is colour and release date (old UR44c is from 2019 and RED is from 2023).
-Is there any thing else?
-Why the RED edition is more expensive?
-Am I thinking correctly that RED edition being more fresh release will be more compatible with newest gear and newest drivers?
All technical details are completely identical, you can do a diff verification on the Thomann website and see the detailed technical data side by side.
The only difference is the color and I think it is just a marketing feature.
The UR44C is available in two versions; the classic grey/black finish and in the new āfireā red/black combination. All other specifications are identical.

Yes I did the Thomann comparison before I came here
And what I wrote in my post is my conclusion of that comparison: only the colour, price and release date are different.
The year of release: old one is from 2019 and RED edition is from 2023, so its 4 years of a difference. What I understand by that is that the RED edition is 4 years younger which makes me think that it is better. Correct me if im wrong here. Maybe the parameters are the same but perhaps they used some newer components. Somehow It makes me assume that RED edition will last 4 years longer.
I see RED on discount at the same proce as the old black edition, so I guess I will grab the new one - maybe the 4 years of difference will give me some advantage?
In 2023, they released a new metal casing colour, thatās it.
The date it was manufactured could make a tiny difference for long term reliability, in theory.
You can buy a Red edition that was built a year ago, or the original colour version that was built a month ago. You probably could find a manufacturing date code on the unit somewhereā¦ but itās a waste of your time anyway.
Donāt overthink this and just buy the colour you prefer.
Cheers.
I bought the grey version cause it was cheaper, but found, that there actually is a difference in two parameters. One - the DSP-effect Real-time Voice Changer is not available with the grey (or itās broken in my device), and there might be an issue with the softwarelicensing (eLicensing) that ends i 2025 for all products released before 2022?
Iām not sure, but Iām returning the grey, to see if the red has the upgrades.
Normally Iād be so annoyed by the hassel, that Iād buy an other product from a different company, but this audio interface is actually i such a super high quality, that I am willing to give them a second chance.
By āReal-time Voice Changerā you mean Pitch Fix effect? If yes then it does work form me and I have grey addition.
But Im very curious If you will notice any difference between grey and red edition - please keep us updated
I will only use this occasion to notice that I finally got this interface and I DO HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH YAMAHA STEINBERG USB DRIVER on my Windows 11 - audio drop outs and āAudio Interruption due to USB errorā - I will just leave it here to draw attention of Steinberg cause they really need to address this dreadful and ongoing issue.
