UR816C weird output routing

Has any one else come across this, or is it just me.
I have MIX4 set to DAW 7/8, connect to output 4L/4R works great
I have MIX3 set to DAW5/6, connect to output 3L/3R works great
I have MIX2 set to DAW3/4, I have to connect to output 1L/1R to make it work
I have MIX1 set to DAW1/2, I have to connect to ouput 2L/2R to make it work
So obviously i set MIX1 to DAW3/4 and MIX2 to DAW1/2.
Does this seem a weird to anyone else ?

I don’t know what your plan is with 4 MIXES and the outputs, but MIX1 is best used as MAIN OUTS 1/2.
The other mixes you can route to the DAW direct’s.

The 4 mix outputs are only useful when using the UR816c as a mixer.
As an audio interface, I’m using the outputs as DAW direct for external hardware.
Changing the MIX outputs to DAW outputs works fine, i just find it weird that they don’t follow logic that DAW1/2 would route to 1L/1R on the outputs.

I have the UR816C for 6 years now and only use it for outboard gear. But MIX 1/2 stays for the DAW output and the studio-monitors. THe other 4 outputs you can assign to any of the DAW DIRECT’s via the dspfx software and in your DAW. There is no logic in this. The main downside of the dspfx software for me is, when you use an extra ADAT, then you don’t have 8 extra output but only 6, because then you have to use the 3 extra mixes for output routings. MIX 1 stays for the mains out.

So this is what I found. I had Output 2L/2R spare on my unit went to hook up some gear, did all the setup and I could only get a main out from those 2 ouptuts (kept feeding back). I finally got it to work by setting My Main out to 2L/2R, selecting 1L/1R in audio connections for my hardware, plugging my hard ware into the physical 2L/2R. Technically if my MIX out is set to 1L/1R i should have nothing come out of 2L/2R but i do have, So the Main mix is coming out both 1L/1R and 2L/2R. Switch the Main out to 2L/2R and i only get out on 1L/1R nothing on 2L/2R. Assign the audio connection to 1L/1R and voila, the hardware plugged into 2L/2R works. I’m sure this is not normal

Seems like you did not adjust the settings in the dspfx software. There in the settings you need to route the outputs to those DAW directs you want. Mix1/2 is best left alone for the mains outs.
Feedback is caused by the fact that you left then input faders in the dspfx software open, they need to be all the way down when you use those channels for external hardware.

This is how i have to set it up to work. 14 channels for hardware. If i set Main output to Mix 1 L/R i get Main output on physical output 2L/R. All channels dspfx are muted.

All other Line and ADAT outputs work fine.
In Audio Connections I have to select Mix 1L for hardware plugged into output 2L.

It all works just doesn’t make sense.

In all the four mixes the faders are muted?
I have about the same setup but my mix1 is for the mains and also in cubase the outputs mains are set as monitor outputs, no problems.
Weird….

Yeah all 4 mixes are muted and the monitors work fine. I only came across this as i had never used output 2. It’s an anomoly that’s for sure. I don’t even know how it’s possible, all output ports are direct mounted to PCB and we all have the same software / firmware. Certainly had me sctraching my head for a while.

If it workls, it’s okay. I have mine routed the other way around: my DAW DIRECTS are at the Line outputs and my ADAT have mixes 2, 3 and 4.
Out of curiosity: when you only have mix1 and mainsout, no further hardware busses activated in Cubase, does that work the right way?

BY the way, you have used MIX 2 two times, that cannot be done. Therefore I had the DAW DIRECTS routed to the LINE outs. Those 4 line outs are only 3, if you have used 1 mix for the mains
