USB RAM stick for sample libraries

Hi folks,

I’ve been having quite a time trying to get my computer to run the Grand 3 and EZDrummer in Cubase. My RAM pretty much stays at 1.86, and many times during monitoring, it seems like it’s not able to trigger the samples fast enough or something, as certain notes in chords will be inaudible every now and then (not due to soundcard dropouts).

I’ve opened my task manager, and I’m pretty sure I need more RAM. Since the budget is still tight, I want to know your thoughts on using a USB RAM stick with my Vista. Are they too slow? Can they tear up my ports (I read someone say that)? What’s the conclusion?

Thanks,
Bane
