Hello, a quick question: If I wanted to publicise some of my music, would putting it on my own website work ?
A much more important consideration : just how safe is it to do this ? my music could be sampled, copied etc. etc. unless I can secure it.
Is this a sensible way to show music, so that it can be heard, but not taken ?
Obviously I think it’s a good idea to use your own website to publicise music because that is what I do.
You do not say if you are uploading scores or recordings (although your post suggests recordings) or what style of music you produce, therefore it is difficult to give any specific advice.
The simplest thing to do is: don’t include a complete work. Leave out the last page! Fade in and out the audio. Just give them a taste.
Always leave them wanting more!
