Using an old ipad as surface controller

I have an old 3rd generation ipad which I thought might be repurposed as a midi control surface and have been looking for apps that can send midi data to Cubase. The few that I have seen only support OS 10 upwards so don’t work with the old OS 4,5 on the ipad. I believe it can be upgraded to OS 9 so does anyone know of a suitable app that will work with ipad OS 9 or earlier? Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks everyone.

Can it run Chrome? If it can you may be able to use Open Stage Control

Quite a steep learning curve to get it up and running but very powerful and very customisable

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to install chrome but the ipad is not compatible.

look at METAGRID PRO

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion, it looks really good but it requires OS 10 or above and the highest version my ipad can have is 9.5 but thanks for your response.

Have you tried AVID Control App?

I have this on my list of things to do. I’ve heard recommends to follow the instructions in the vid to the letter.
