Using Behringner XR18 as audio interface in Cubase 3.8.3

I am having issues with setting up cubasis to record multiple channels. I have the most recent version of Cubasis 3.8.3 and using a Lenovo Legion Tablet generation 3 on android version 16 to run the app. The issue is when connecting my Behringer XR 18 mixer to the tablet with a usb-c to usb-b cable.

Cubasis is showing that the mixer is connected as the interface, but when I add a new audio track it is only allowing me to use 2 channels inputs and outputs and not showing the other available 16 channels.

I have watched videos on the set up with cubasis and other audio interfaces and cubasis does show in the videos that they have multiple inputs and outputs to route to and from. The software also says there is 24 available inputs and outputs to use. I am unsure if this is a set up error on my XR mixer or if this is a compatibility issue between the two units.

Hi @mattgrohs

Thanks for your message.

Please note that Cubasis for Android is limited to 2 inputs and outputs.

To see the features available in each Cubasis version, please visit our comparison page.

Hope that helps.

Understood I must have misread the description. I am still not getting sound to cubasis using the xr18 with USB though. I have enabled my microphone and turned off all midi as this was another suggestion. I have the interface selected in the daw and the xr18 USB sends routed to input 1 and 2, yet still no sound in cubasis though the xr18 is showing its recieving signal from all inputs I happen to use. Any suggestions to get these two to communicate?

Hi @mattgrohs,

Thank you for your message.

Cubasis for Android uses Google’s Oboe framework to support external audio devices. You may want to check with Behringer directly to confirm whether the XR18 is supported via Oboe.

Please keep me updated.

Lars

I also bought Cubasis to use on my Samsung TabS9 android tablet.

I must say that I gave up trying to use it. The user interface is horrible.

I cant seem to find basic commands in the menus. It is quicker to go into the studio and power up the windows machine.

I thought Cubasis was a complete waste of my money and my time.

Hi @Phill_Wildman,

To help you get started with Cubasis quickly, we’ve created a dedicated tutorial that walks you through all the steps needed to create a full track.

We’re confident that after watching it, you’ll be well up to speed.

Plus, there are many more tutorials about additional Cubasis features on the same channel.

Please give it a try and let us know what you think!

P.S.: The tutorial was created using Cubasis for iOS, which includes some additional features depending on the platform. However, the basic workflow is very similar on Android.

Thanks,
Lars

Thank you for this

I have already watched Doms videos on Cubasis.
I’m sorry but it does not translate to my real world experience when trying to use it

Thank you
Phill

Sorry to read that Cubasis is not for you then, @Phill_Wildman!

Best,
Lars
