Using Cubase offline

If I purchase Cubase 14 Elements on line, can I then use it if I unplug internet from my computer indefinitely?

This is an easy one:
YES!
Once it’s been activated, of course, like most software these days.

And welcome to the forum!

Thank you for your quick reply! I am trying to beat the clock on windows 10… I plan on unplugging my computer from the internet once Microsoft abandons us!

Almost, if I am remembering correctly you will need to reauthorize once a year. Not 100% sure though.

I don’t think this is so - there would be riots in the streets, with hordes of disgruntled Cubase users rampaging around the streets of Hamburg.
I think they toyed with the idea of a monthly thing, but this was quickly discarded.

Since C12, through C13 to C14, I’ve never had to re-activate anything Steinberg.

Well, for the time being, I’m currently trying to get my old PC up and running again with windows 7 and Cubase 5 AI… It used to run just fine…

Yes, I remember the monthly proposesal and that’s when I thought they backed off to a year. But thinking about it, you might be right since it was over a year between 13 and 14( or was it 12 to 13 that we had the long gap) and we didn’t need to reauthorize.

And that computer is not online?

My machine is permanently online, via ethernet to my broadband hub.
However, there is an article in the support pages concerning offline activation. This seems to imply that no internet is required after that initial activation.
Here’s a quote:

This article guides you through the steps to activate Steinberg-Licensing-based software on a computer without internet connection. You will learn how to create a transferable file online, with which you can permanently install and activate licenses on an offline computer.

I keep my workstation offline, except for updates. Cubase has never squawked at me about licensing. Some plugins on the other hand
