Hello everyone,
sumup of my problem :
When I use my M4U interface, Cubase freeze, until I unplug it.
Then I can load a project, I can use midi several seconds or minutes, and it freeze again.
Lot of unsuccesfull trial : pluging before/after starting cubase
The initial freeze (before loading a project) can happen even if there is no din midi in or out plugged on the M4U.
Thank you very much for you advices.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
From this, I expect, it’s independent on the hardware. Am I right?
Are you on Mac or Windows?
Hi Martin,
I am on windows 11. The last driver of ESI M4U is installed.
The problem can occur even if no device (I plug 2 keyboards on the M4U) is plugged. Only the interface plugged with usb.
Hi,
So you mean, the M4U is plugged to the computer, but there are no devices plugged to the M4U? Does the issue happens also if the M4U is not plugged to the computer?
Then it seems, the problem is on the hardware side. I would try to:
- Reinstall the driver (install it as administrator).
- Reinstall Cubase (install it as administrator).
You can also try to generate a DMP file from Cubase and share it via Dropbox or a similar service, please.
Use the Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.
-
Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your hard disk.
-
Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)
-
Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
For example:
cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder. -
Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behaviour (see next step).
-
Launch procdump64 via Command Prompt:
Cubase:
procdump64 -e -h -t Cubase
Nuendo:
procdump64 -e -h -t Nuendo
The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exceptions and the option -t terminations of the application.
- Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.
ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or a similar service, please.
It occurs only when the M4U is pluged.
I follow your process. Only for the driver because reinstalling cubase in administrator mode ? I use the installer, so I don’t know how to do.
SO ! Desinstalling the driver ESI M4U : done / Reinstalling in administrator mode : done / Reboot windows : done / Starting Cubase testing with interface : NO PROBLEM / Starting a project with my 2 keyboards : NO PROBLEM.
If no news from me, it means that every thing is OK !
Thank you for your solution of reinstalling the driver in administrator mode. It seems it was a good solution !
