Using external MIDI drum grooves

Is it possible to drag-drop MIDI drum grooves from Addictive Drums 2 into Dorico 6?

It seems like an easy thing to test on one’s own…. :wink: (…and it might have been quicker to try than to post your question!) Not meaning to be rude, though I guess that’s the way this sounds.

I have no experience with using drum grooves in Dorico, sorry.

Try dragging them in Play mode.

Thanks for your replies, which make me realise my initial request was unclear.

I did try, but although the import happened, it was not a usable result.

So what I should have asked is how do I configure Dorico to accept external MIDI grooves?

Maybe it helps if you tell us what result you are searching for ..

If possible, provide an example, tell what you did, what happened, what you expected.

Importing midi is possible …

I am trying to set up the connection between AD2 as my drum playback instrument and Dorico

Fig 1, using General MIDI does not work properly, the sounds do not match the names, eg ride cymbal instead of closed HH, no snare sidestick.

Fig 2, trying a custom perc map does not work either, the sounds do not match, eg bass drum sound in the closed HH part.

(I have also tried with transposition, as I note the octaves do not match ie 36 as C1 in AD2, but C2 in Dorico, but that did not fix it)

Ah, you would like to play the drum parts notated in Dorico by Addictive drums.

Maybe this post of @judddanby is helpful.

The thread quoted by @TonH contains a test project at the bottom created by me. It maps 99% of the hits/instruments etc. and you get reasonable results by dragging the groove in.

EDIT: it’s actually both a test project and playback template.
