Using the new drum pattern editor with NI Battery 4 is a torture for real

Hello Forum,

did you ever struggling using f.e. NI Battery 4 in the new drum step sequencer of Cubase 15 Pro (15.0.30). I saw different approaches to create user drum maps for Battery 4, but ppl gave in bc of the huge manual work it needs to be done.

At least it would be a great help to drag and drop the lanes of the drum pattern sequencer to the place you like. Battery 4 uses f.e. all Bass Drum Sounds on C1 - C4. It would be very convenient to drag all them C Notes where the BD’s live in Battery via Drag and Drop, so all BD’s are ordered next to the upcoming BD. It might look like this then:
C1, C2, C3, C4 neat ordered in the list so it will be not a mess searching for the right BD notes cause Battery 4 can have lots of pads depending on the loaded Kit. To manually create a drum map is to much work to do. we need another, easier approach. f.e. drag an drop functionality for the lanes in the new step sequencer itself.

Thanks in advance

I tried it once and I gave up right away :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Don’t expect any solutions from Steinberg for this. Battery is already very old with no hopes to be ever updated again.

With all the honesty, I’m trying to use the new drum sequencer whenever I can but very often I feel like I can do the same in piano roll and faster. Drum sequencer looks more ‘natural’ to my eye though, for the drum sequencing.

Hello ba,

thnx for your reply. Yeah - you’re maybe right about Steinberg and NI Battery 4. At last I found a very helpful post where you can download a .rar file with all them default Battery 4 Kits as .drm files: The link to the forum post where you can download the .rar file

For me it works. Its a very old post from the Cubase 8 period but it works in Ver. 15 as well.

I guess there’s nothing more to expect…

bye
