I just experienced some strange behavior when trying to edit the velocity of freshly entered notes in the percussion editor. Velocity is always displayed as 0, regardless of its current value. When I change the velocity with the pencil tool, the display-graph will always jump back to zero although the setting seems to be done (sounds like so). This only happens when the instzrument is combined in a kit. When I set up this instrument (a hand drum) separately, everything works fine.
Check in Play mode that the instrument is routed to a VST and has a percussion map. If it isn’t , MIDI isn’t actually generated and hence, there is no velocity.
Thanks for your answer. I’m using Noteperformer so ther is a VST and sound is also present. Even with different velocitys, but they are not displayed.
When I use this instrument alone, that means, not as part of a kid, everything works fine.
Are you able to edit velocity for instruments in a percussion kid?
I don’t really ever edit velocities. I only made the comment above because this is exactly what happens to me (velocity=0) when I change a drum kit (add/remove pieces). If, after you reapply the Playback template it still behaves like that, you might have stumbled onto a bug – unless some other knowledgeable member here has a better explanation.
So it seems that you can not see the velocity of the choosen notes of a single instrument from within the kit if you have selected the whole kit to display in the key editor.
Hm - maybe that’s not a bug but a feature. However, it helps to know about it.
Actually it’s a well-known thing: dynamics in a kit are a delicate thing. You can set dynamics for the entire kit as 5-line-staff instrument in the score, and make parts that use grid or 1-line-staff instruments and find out your dynamics have disappeared in that view (or the other way round). It has been discussed before, IIRC.
