Vertical spacing between stacked Playing Techniques

I could not find a relevant option for this in Engraving Options but is there a way to set a default distance between stacked Playing Techniques? This is what I have:

All three PTs (slow bowing, low pressure, sul tasto ←→ ordinario) are Text Playing Techniques. If I change them to Glyph PTs the distance between themselves becomes much better but then they become centred on the note (with no way I found to have them left aligned so this would still require a good deal of tweaking).

I’m wondering if there could be a way to have these two PTs closer. I have already thought about using a simple text object on two lines but since this is something that will be reused later in the score, I want to have a PT for that.

Finally, since these are all Text PTs, look at how “low pressure” and “sul tasto ←→ ordinario” do not align. I cannot see why they would not do that.

Thank you for your brainstorming support!

Hi,

I don’t know how to adjust the spacing, I actually don’t get more than one playing technique displayed on the same note… how did you do that?

But regarding the different aligning: May one of these (sul tasto…) be connected with this “reload-sign” in between, which by its size changes vertical aligning?

Nice suggestion, I will try the grouping of the lower PT with the reload sign.

To get more than one PT on the same note, insert one, then press Tab to select the note to which it is attached, and insert the second.

I just found out that the positioning of text playing techniques depends on their lowest pixel, not there baseline. That means “low pressure” will have more space underneath than “sul tasto” because of the “p” in it. Does look a little weird indeed, if you have several of them besides each other… you’ll have to fix this manually if you want them aligned, I suppose.

EDIT: And another thing: It seems the default space between playing techniques is the “distance to staff” defined in Engraving Options | Playing Techniques | Vertical Spacing. It’s just stacked. In your case, you seem to want to have some space between the PT and the staff so you probably have a bigger value there, but this will add to the distance of stacked techniques as well. Not sure how to help there other than manual adjustment…

Thank you so much for this investigation!

Hopefully we can get an extra option in Engraving Options for “space between stacked Playing Techniques”.
