Hi @Keaton-Viavattine , I suggest you to worry about spacings (and layout in general) only after you have inputted your Music, Dynamics, Slurs, Articulations, etc…, as Dorico will certainly change the spacings that you see now in your empty example, to make space for example for the bass trombone material.
You can check the following settings in Layout Options/Bar numbers (it seems from your example that the Minimum distance from staff is set to a hight value, default being 2):
