Is this by any chance a AMD processor? There is a known issue with Cubase and RME drivers on AMD Ryzen CPUs where seemingly randomly the ASIO driver wouldn’t get initialized properly and Cubase had no sound (and nothing on any meter at all). Probably a timing issue and supposedly more noticeable with lower buffer sizes.
The solution is to try other USB ports, until you find one that works. Preferably one where the interface is the only device on the USB hub
I can’t reproduce it, but occasionally I find that Cubase 15.0.6 does not have audio when I start it up. The RME ASIO driver is visible, Cubase is still pointing to the right driver, but there is simply NO sound. I just have to restart Cubase, and then it works fine indefinitely at any latency under all kinds of projects. Weird.
Anyone else? It’s rare enough I can’t see a pattern or force it to happen.
It’s also not disruptive enough at this point to really cause me to press the issue further,…
Just triangulating with what I’ve experienced. My own situation is still impossible to force/duplicate, and it’s still rare, but if it gets more annoying I’m just going to buy a Fresco-based USB card.
