Hello everyone,
I wanted to start a discussion about a feature that I believe is missing in Dorico: the ability to export a score as a video file.
Currently, this operation can be easily performed in Sibelius, and considering that we have already reached version 5 of Sibelius, I think it’s time for the Steinberg team to seriously consider the implementation of this function in Dorico.
Video export would not only be useful for composers and arrangers, but it could also expand the possibilities of presenting one’s works, making the software even more competitive in the landscape of music notation applications.
I would be curious to hear your thoughts on this and whether there are already plans in place to introduce this feature in future updates. What do you think?
Thank you for your attention!

Welcome to the forum, Alfredo. This has been discussed many times in the past, and we know that this is a feature that would be welcomed by many of our users. We haven’t made any firm commitments about implementing this feature in a future version of Dorico.
If you search the forum you’ll find a number of existing discussions about this, and about how users are currently approaching the production of playback videos from Dorico projects.
Thank you for this quick response; it’s much appreciated.
I searched and found some discussions.
As for video editing with other software, I have no problems since I can do it, but any solution is never as practical as direct export.
That’s why I opened a new thread to test the interest again and understand if this is still a widely sought-after feature and what concrete possibilities there are for it to be implemented in Dorico.
Otherwise, for certain tasks, I will have to continue using Sibelius, as external export and editing are really too time-consuming and counterproductive for teaching; I’m not paid for this, but I do it to help the students.
Thank you very much again for the valuable message!

Exporting to video is a necessary feature to share film or video work for approval or collaboration. Still no plans to include it? Thank you.

Thank you for your contribution and for sharing your opinion.
Every user employs Dorico differently, depending on their professional and artistic needs. I believe that the ability to export videos of scores with integrated audio could be a useful and versatile feature for many, not only for those working in education or musical communication, but also for composers and arrangers who want to present their ideas in a visually and sonically coherent way.
I would like to emphasize the importance of this feature, not only to streamline our workflow but also to ensure that Dorico remains at the forefront of meeting the needs of a wide range of users. The creation of multimedia content has become an essential part of the work of many musicians and composers. I sincerely hope that the Dorico development team will consider this proposal and that we will see progress in this direction soon.
