I’ve got a Virus TI2 and when I bring up the MIDI Port Setup in Device Setup, it shows 8 MIDI ports.
DirectMusic In/Out MIDI/Synth (4) and Windows MIDI In/Out MIDI/Synth (4).
Since I plan on using the Virus as a VST (Virus Control), do I need them?
If so, which ones should I use?

I got my Virus TI2 desktop running with the Virus Control VSTi just fine in Cubase 8.0.5. I turned off all the MIDI ports related to it in the MIDI device setup and it did not affect the plugin whatsoever. So, empirically, the answer to my original question is: You can disable everything, it doesn’t matter.
