Volume automation

I’m big on drawing in volume automation.

I sometimes open up a pre gain lane to have an extra lane for automating sections (verse chorus, etc.)

Is there a way to have a THIRD automation lane for level? I’m trying not to have to send my audio track to a group if I don’t have to.

I realize that I can grab my audio part and raise and lower levels there but sometimes the part is cut up into pieces not compatible with this function.

I might not need this function very often but would like the option possible.

I’m not sure that I understand the question correctly. What is hindering you from inserting one of those countless helper plug-ins and use its volume automation for your tasks …?
