Volume with recording guitar in Cubase 14

Hi!

I’m new to Cubase and recording, so apologies if this is a question with an obvious answer.

I use a Helix 6 guitar rig as my general audio interface when running Cubase, and also use it to record guitar parts. The problem, however, is that audio on the guitar I’m recording is so low, compared to other midi instruments. Even when I use the mixer to raise the guitar track very high and every else low, it still is really quiet.

How do I make the guitar I’m recording more level with the midi parts? If I increase the master volume on the Line 6, it just makes the midis louder too, since Cubase is running through it.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Ensure, you enable the Hi-Z/Inst on your hardware (the given Input).

Could you attach a screenshot of the waveform, please?

It’s been a while since I used the Helix as an audio interface but I’ll try to help. What happens if you increase the output level rather than the master volume? So go past the last effects block in the helix and turn up the gain there… Does it increase everything or just the guitar level?

Hi,

I am not sure if the Helix 6 can be used as an audiointerface and how you set up your system.

If you look at Studio/Studiosetup/Audiosystem > is there a dedicated Helix/Line6 ASIO driver you can pick?
Same applies to your inputs and outputs: If you have a look at Studio/Audio Connections/Inputs and Outputs > are Helix/Line 6 Inputs available?

Can you post a screenshot of your guitar track and its routing, please?
