I have an issue where the Marimba in my VSL Synchronized Percussion plays manual tremolos (e.g., 1/16ths) rather than using the sample. I’m using VSL’s own expression map and have double-checked its settings against the Timpani, which does play the sample, and they appear basically identical. I prefer using tremolo slashes, and again, those work on Timpani but not Marimba.
probably a stupid question but just to make absolutely sure – you are using the full Synchronized Percussion library and not the Percussion section from the Special Edition – where the marimba does not have a sampled tremolo? If the full library, unfortunately I don’t have so cannot test but I’m sure someone else will chip in!
Yes, it’s the full library. Actually, I switched the UI on so I could see what’s happening and it is switching to the roll sample… and listening more carefully, at higher volume, I’m hearing that it is the rolled sample, it’s just less smooth at this dynamic than I remembered/realized (or at least sounds a little more articulated than I expected). Haha… So, basically a false alarm.
