VST Connect over satellite broadband

Hi All!

Due to my client being located in rural Britain, he has a very poor (less than 1meg download) internet connection.
We have tried a couple of workarounds;

  1. 4G broadband router- high theoretical speed (25meg download, 15meg upload), but unable to sustain for long. Also unusable after 2pm, due to high contention (lots of other people using the same bandwidth)
  2. Satellite broadband - Good speed 15meg download, 8meg upload) low contention, but very high latency. During a project I’m unable to record without pressing the rehearsal switch on the VST Connect plugin, therefor suffering from delayed recording, with varying delay, rendering it useless for serious work.

I would love to know if anyone else is using a satellite broadband solution successfully, and what settings they are using

Thanks in advance

You may be able to record by setting the “Remote Latency” to a higher value, like 2 or 3 seconds or even more. Should work, give it a try (cogwheel icon in the VST Connect plugin).

Thanks musicullum, I’ll give that a try, and let you know

Thanks again, worked a treat!

Good to know also for others who might face that very problem.
How did you set the Remote Latency parameter?
