VST does not work when installed according to directions

Hello Everyone,
I was able to download some free VST samples from “99 sounds.” The directions told me where to put the samples, which were actually .wav files. Here’s what they said to do:

Compatibility

Our virtual instruments are compatible with all VST and AU plugin host applications on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows and macOS. Keep in mind that macOS Catalina is NOT supported at the moment.

Installation

To install our VST plugins on Windows, extract the downloaded archive to your VST plugins folder (the one which your DAW scans).

> On macOS, extract the downloaded archive to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and restart your DAW.

I followed the directions to the letter, but when I restarted CUBASE, I could not find any kind of VST in the media window on the right with the title of the free samples. And then there were these directions:

Installing VST Plugins on macOS

Standard Installation Process

This process is the same as on Windows machines and is still only available if the VST comes with an installer.

Just double-click the installer and follow its instructions. Take note of the installation location.

Manual Installation Process

On macOS, the default VST folders are found in the following locations:

  • Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\VST
  • Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\VST3
  • Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components

Ok, so I tried the above file paths, but it did not work. Is anyone familiar with this process and how it works? Again, they say that these are VST files, but the files are actually many .Wav files. Could someone please help me out on this?

Thank You,

Rich

Hi,

Is it a VST3 plug-in? Are you on a Mac with an M processor or an Intel processor?

TBH, that is from 2020.
Maybe the VSTi is too old to be compatible to the actual macOS?
And Cubase doesn’t support VST2 anymore on the ARM Mac.

Which ones? Some of these seem to be just samples with no vst plugin. Maybe the instruction is generic for all their products but doesn’t apply to this specific set of sounds.

Hi,

It does, but only in the Rosetta mode.

None of the samples say VST3, they are all
.WAV files, which is the confusing part since it says that it’s supposed to be a VST. I have an Intel processor.

You could be right.

Now that I think about it, you could definitely be correct. In that case, since all of the samples are.WAV, how can I incorporate it into CUBASE?

Also, I am running Mac OS Ventura right now. My Mac is an intel based.

Hi,

It’s very confusing. I would recommend you to get in touch with the plug-in vendor.

Depends on what kind of samples they are and how you want to use them.
(sorry deleted incorrect info) Groove Agent can load samples, Sample Track can load samples.

Hi,

To explain a bit further… If these are an instruments, or drums, or sound effects, or one-shot samples.

HALion Sonic can’t load WAV files. Only HALion can do this.

They are hand claps and finger snaps. All .WAV files.

Either Groove Agent or the new drum track/machine probably your best bet then.

ok, I will try that. Thank You!

Hi,

Please, don’t put these files in any VST folder, because they are not VST.

Ok I will take them out.

Ok, so now I need to figure out how to put them into Groove Agent.

Hi,

drag and Drop them from MediaBay or from the project over to the Groove Agent Pad.

Whats really interesting is that yes, I can drop and drag them into the Groove Agent pads, but after that, I cannot drag them back out again to use them for a project? Whats that all bout?
