On playback i’ve noticed some VST instruments seem to have a slight delay and i’m having to move the notes forward slightly. to synchronise with other tracks.
Is this usual ?

It depends on the Attack Time of the sound itself.
You can use the Track Delay in Milliseconds controller (bellow the Volume and Pan in the Inspector). So the MIDI Parts and MIDI Notes would graphically stay in the the Grid, but it will be shifted to the Audio Engine.
