Yes, this is almost perfect
As of the first version of VL, I was expecting a way to select more than 128 songs using an action, as a setlist can contain a larger number of songs. Back then, I thought the answer would be to use Bank select MSB + LSB + Program Change, but now, with this new setlist system, we just need a new action to activate any set of songs! Please!!!
Hi @Jihem , with a quick math, 128 songs with an average of 3 mins is about 6.5 hrs of playing without claps, telling a few words to your audience. After playing 6.5hrs sending any kind of signal to play another 6.5hrs …. I suppose u’re a terminator or using VST Live for another special kind of purpose
What is your application for that? Usually, you choose a set and then play the show. If there is a change, there is usually sufficient time to select another setlist…?
Of course, if it makes sense (and it appears to do for you), we can add a few Actions and Shortcuts to select and activate a setlist.
Well, the answer might be long, but to make it short, I’m a solo performer playing for events like weddings, enterprises, pubs and so on. I play guitar and piano and have a pool of around 200 songs. Following the mood and the demand of the audience, I play 30 to 40 of them each night in no particular order.
I’m using a Miditemp MSX as a midifile player and a Behringer FCB1010 with Uno2 chip to control everything (selection of songs, section looping, guitar effects…) so all operations are hand-free and I never turn my back on the audience.
Songs are categorized, and five switches of the FCB1010 are calling a category (musical genre). Then Program Changes select the song number in the category.
Some songs are just a 2 bar drums pattern, others are complete arrangements. With VL, a song could also be just layers for my master keyboard, with no tracks.
That’s why I need so many songs and have to keep all operations hands-free!
In my case, I wish I can use VL sets as categories and activate them with a Midi control.
