Hello. The problem was described in this thread. Wasn’t fixed! Can I get feedback @Spork ? when will this happen? This is really slowing down my work at the moment.
Also earlier, I described the problem in detail and attached my project to this topic. It was quite a long time ago. This problem is still not resolved @Spork
In my case VST Live 3.0.30 and 2.2.110 (MAC) had improved in terms of sample rate conversion. Now everything is working as expected. I can play at 48khz songs that were created at 92 and viceversa. The thing is not working is play at 44.1 with audio files created at 92. The audio is playing but there is pitch shift applied to audio…. but I don’t need this… for me is usable the product.
Regarding this issue… I have to add that yesterday we tried to use VST Live 3.0.34 and also 2.2.114 on Windows, speaking about sample rate… we have a lot of 48khz songs and when we start playing them it went ok… but after playing a while… the audio tracks got out of sync ending up with tracks not playing in time… we had to stop backing tracks and play without VST Live. When we had a brake I uninstalled 2.2.114 and installed 2.2.50 and everything went smoothly. So… still there are some deep issues regarding sample rate conversion, we are not able to use new versions because of this problem.
Plase take care of this situation regarding sample rate conversion, it is unusable for us new versions
I have to add that our DLive system is expecting 96khz. So sample rate is from 48 to 96.
Yes, it was set in “performance”… and the issue was terrific, when you are playing the feeling of hearing tracks out of time is insane!!!.. I’m going to give a try to Ableton… I tried to report and wait for VST Live reliability and stability but I’m starting to give up… I’m so sorry to say that but… I’m preparing a new setup with ableton at this moment. Maybe I’ll go back to VST when the software gets mature enough in order to trust …
We are on the case. Made some long time testing with “regular” rate conversion (44.1 to 48 and vice versa) and there were no such problems. But as said, conversions with a factor of 2 or more (ore 0.5 or less) are still not covered with the new version, will take care of that asap.
I’m sorry to say this, but we have finally migrated the project to Ableton Live. We tried to trust VST Live over the last few years, but the latest versions have been very unstable for us, especially because the track timing issues — with tracks not playing in sync — became a very serious problem. On top of that, MIDI sending was also affected because of this.
During a live show, we actually had to stop the performance and uninstall one version in the middle of the show to install a much older one so that the show could run stably, and that was ultimately the final decision for us.
We have the feeling that the beta testers are the users themselves, but we paid for a stable and properly functioning version, and unfortunately that has not been the case. The public releases are not stable, and the beta versions are not stable either.
I am very sorry to write these words, because I understand how hard it must be for you to read them, but we need to ensure that the show works properly and be able to trust the product.
I hope you understand this decision. So… for the moment I’ll be user of Dorico but not VST Live.
Of course we are very sad, but respect your decision. There are numerous reports confirming general stability of VST Live in real live performance situations (see here), and stability is priority no. 1 for us. So if you could do us (and other users) a favour regardless of your decision, we’d be very grateful if you could provide the crash report to us which led to your very unfortunate situation (been there myself). In any case, we wish you good luck!
