In the German Version of VST Live 3, using a slash or backslash in a layer name
results in incorrect entries in the Media Bay. (Win 10)
1.) Create a layer.
2.) Name it “1.) Layer = On\Off”
3.) Create another layer.
4.) Name it “2.) Layer = On/Off”
5.) Drag each layer into the Media Bay.
You will get this result:
Can I answer to your question while both mentioned are enjoying weekend? 
I would recommend not to use slashes in names since all them goes to folder structure on disk and slashes always are delimiters for subfolders.
But don’t worry! If you drag that layer from mediabay to your project, you will get its name back. I tried “1\2\3” and it created subfolders in mediabay as well as on the disk. When drag to project, it gets its name “1\2\3”!
And this seems not a bug, but super feature because this way you can organize your layers and other items in your project’s library.
“Piano\Slow”
“Piano\Fast”
“Multi\Piano + Guitar”
“Multi\Cello + Choir”
“Multi\Bass + Organ”
“Bass\Fuzzy”
etc.
So if VST Live does the way you don’t like, just don’t use it this way.
You can use simpler names like “1. Layer On-Off”, “2. Layer On-Off”.
Dots and defises are ok and for simplicity it’s enough for delimiters in names, no?
Yes, and subfolders structure I wrote above can be created with “+” and “–” buttons. But one nuance there - when I drag layer to the folder, it’s not refreshed. Should switch to Local and then back to Project, only then MediaBay content is refreshed.
And when entering folder name in MediaBay, it also allows these symbols.

You’re certainly right. If you give a layer a name like that and it doesn’t work, then just use a layer name that does work.
May I briefly explain how this naming came about?
I’m using a layer to switch a 220-volt socket. I thought I should use a layer name that speaks for itself.
So I named this layer ‘DasLight Schuko1 On\Off’.
I wanted to save this setting in the media centre. That’s how my post came about.
I also deliberately avoided mentioning a bug in the topic title.
I wouldn’t want to call it a bug.

The issue with the “\” (slash) and “/” (backslash) characters has been resolved. The Media Center now displays a program notification for the user. That’s a great start.
It would be perfect if Steinberg would display the message in German in a “German” language environment.
