VST Live 3 Tutorials?

Perhaps I should ask a more fundamental question: how do I use the manual (PDF?)?
I’ve only found the online version.

In the Steinberg video, the AI presenter is hyping everything up like a carnival barker, but nothing works right away.

For example, OBS video streaming.
In the video, you can see a camera appearing live in VST 3.
The manual simply states:

“OBS is now ready to connect to VST Live and will automatically receive audio and video as soon as VST Live is running.”

So, the manual says the opposite, in the Streaming section…
And I don’t know what the point of that is. (It works, but I don’t understand the point of receiving a video track in OBS, and as I said, I wanted to receive a live camera feed in VST3 Live.)

Under Menu Video Devices, you see six monitors listed in all three menu entries, but there’s nowhere to select OBS.
In Video Track you can select several Sources (i tried all of them) and “route” them to on of the VST3 Monitors.
I opened all, but never i see something appart from a generic greenscreen.
These connections are completely unclear, and the online help is practically useless.

There’s supposed to be a mouseover help feature, but the video doesn’t explain how to turn it on or off.

forget the PDF
First enable this (in app help on mouseover)

Second a new online help is made at time of releasing VL3

For OBS integ:

Ahh - perfect, now I have a picture from my cam in VST 3 Live Monitor.
Thanks

on more question.
Is it possible to get a clean picture from OBS?
The Cam is razor sharp, but that screen is distorted and the font is frayed in shape and color.

That is not okay, but could you first check if all are “un-touched” here?
“Transform” values I mean:

First, I can’t get all the inspector fields to open like you can.
Only one opens at a time.

The settings were untouched.
When I mess around with the values, strange things happen.
At some point, it stops scaling and instead makes the whole video smaller, or the monitor goes black. The blurring persists regardless of the aspect ratio.

Click for Video-Screenshot

By the way, is it normal that all video monitors have to be manually reopened after closing and restarting the program?

Also, both lyrics monitors, which are fed with different tracks, are always showing the first lyrics track after restarting the program.

The project window is where it was when I closed the program, as is the Audience window.

But the lyrics windows are in a different location.

I’d like to make another request, hoping that some developers might be reading this:

It’s incredibly frustrating when the interface essentially looks like Cubase, but 80% of the little things work completely differently.

For example, chord input. In Cubase, you use the pen tool, double-click, and can enter something. Here, the pen tool seems to have no function at all. Input is done through a different window; selecting and moving the chord isn’t possible.

In the DMX editor, trying to move an event in time doesn’t work, only in value.

Hovering the mouse over an input field and scrolling the value doesn’t work.

So many simple, standard things that you don’t even think about anymore present long-time users with almost insurmountable challenges.

Some things, however, are exactly the same.
G and H are shortcuts for zoom, or / for loop.
… setting loop markers, on the other hand, isn’t like in Cubase.

The mouse-over help only appears for obvious buttons.
Everything within the outer edge of the app isn’t explained.

By the way, it’s very cool that you can permanently record a live video source while playing the project, even if you’re switching furiously in the director window during a concert.
No matter what you cut there, the recording of the cam in the track is recorded.

Its just a brand new tweak, see below;)

Is it possible to send separate video tracks to OBS? I’ve set up two VST Live video outputs, video 1 and video 2, but they’re not appearing. The idea is to use VST Live’s own engine to display a static video and a video thumbnail that changes depending on the show.

No! Video Director “directed-view” can be sent to OBS
